a personal message from karin

I am a coach. My work is human nature. My love - my passion - is exploring the big life questions for myself and with others. These are the questions that often get pushed aside in our busy, stress-filled world.

Our everyday lives can wear us down so much we forget that life really is a gift we can squander without even being aware of it. For many, the big questions surface when life takes an unexpected turn - when the body, mind or spirit finally cries out for help. Or when we find ourselves at a crossroad, feeling stuck or confused about a job, a relationship, or who we’ve become.

We may feel restless to connect with something deeper - an art, a spiritual practice, nature, or our own true self. Or we may simply want to accomplish something big - and need the creative energy, the courage and support to make it happen.

My work as a coach is about helping others make those changes and connect with the marvelous and mysterious gift of their life. I’ve had many rich life experiences, but the most significant lessons are the ones that have given me clarity on “the big questions”.

I spent two years as a volunteer for a hospice organization which took me to the bedside of dying patients. Over and over again, these people shared their stories and truths with me, and always - at the end of life - the message was clear ... what truly matters is the quality of the love you give, the love you receive - and that you use your life to better your world.

I’ve had many rewarding experiences, but these simple lessons, humbly taught by these extraordinary teachers were among my most profound. Have you considered the ”big questions” in your own life? Do any of these sound familiar?

  • Why can’t I have more of what I want in my life?
  • What do I want?
  • Why am I here?
  • Who am I, really?
  • How can I live my dreams?
  • I seem to have it all - why am I unfulfilled?
  • What do I believe?
  • What’s my passion?
  • What’s missing? Is this all there is?
  • What’s keeping me from moving forward?
  • Why am I not enjoying life?
  • Why am I afraid?
  • How can I help?

I work with clients in an atmosphere of trust and warmth and challenge them to think deeply, express themselves openly, and commit to making changes in their lives based on what they most value. Our work together often unravels the layers of who they are - or want to become - to find their true nature, and to find their own answers to the big questions.

This ongoing discovery is the most potent force behind making the changes they want for themselves in order to create a fulfilling life, a meaningful life. My beliefs about life lie at the core of my coaching. These thoughts fuel me in my work, my family life, ... every area of my life. So, here’s what I want to say about what I know to be true ...

Life is an adventure - and you are the only one who has sole custody of your unique journey. Make darn sure you take the time, find the way - do whatever it takes - to be really alive and awake throughout the flow of your journey. Take great care not to lose your “Self” in your search for happiness by prioritizing your life around the bigger paycheck, the next promotion, the larger house, or the impressive title on your business card.

Happiness is something you never get from other people or circumstances. It is within you. Most people look outside of themselves for happiness, or blame life’s circumstances for their unhappiness. Know that you direct your life, life doesn’t direct you.

You have a choice in what you think, what you say, what you do - and every choice - impacts you and those around you. When the foundation of what you choose is based on Love, the happiness you feel, is in direct proportion to the love you give. The present moment is perfect. That may be hard to accept when you are in the midst of stress, loss, heartache - or even physical pain.

But there is a “Flow” to your life, and when you allow yourself to be in it, all that you need to create your perfect life - comes to you naturally, effortlessly. When you are in a state of Flow, you feel fully alive in every moment, intuition is heightened, there is more clarity, creativity, simplicity and beauty. Life seems to form patterns that fit together perfectly. People, places and things fall into place. Timing is perfect, and it all makes sense. When you look back over your life, you can see how every detail of your life was orchestrated to take you to this present moment.

This is Flow, and when you trust - and go with it, life is amazing.

Learn to love the journey, not the destination. Every moment is precious. Don’t waste your days, your hours, your minutes on worry, or fear, or empty goals that only stroke the ego. Think of life as a terminal illness, because if you do, you’ll be clear about what it is that you truly value. You’ll live more passionately, more joyfully, and the wisdom in the words of my teachers will ring true for you, too.

Give love ..., receive love ... use your life to contribute to your world. See that life is the great classroom. There are lessons all around you, in every moment, in each thought and action, in your connection to others ... and to your Self.

The really important subjects taught here are “the big life questions”. So ..., are you present? Are you awake? If you are, you’ll never be disappointed.
